Vegetarian Spider

Vegetarian SpiderAbove is a photo of the Bagheera kiplingi, a kind of jumping spider, that eats a plant bud from an acacia tree, which you may have heard of before due to its mutualism with ants. The spider jumps from leaf to leaf or branch to branch avoiding the ants and munching on buds of the acacia. It was the first vegetarian spider to be discovered and now there is thought to be around 40 000 species of vegetarians. To read a complete article on the subject click here.
